The only way a transporter wouldn’t reach a particular section of a planet is if it were specifically designed not to or blocked at the destination, so now we have a definite ghetto.

Although, requiring pad to pad teleportation, rather than pad to site, or site to site is odd since the setting is post TNG. Fortunately it can be rationalized that site to site beaming is blocked in the Kelvan section, and only pad to pad is allowed near there, while everywhere else site to site and pad to site is allowed.

I thought it was Data and Chief O’Brien, but Questor makes more sense given the references to Roddenberry’s other projects that this episode is delightfully packed with.

I’m reminded of Data and Kirk’s son.

A good five miles. I guess BART, buses, and cabs are out?

Nice cameos. Data and, I believe it’s, Questor from “The Questor Tapes”.

The background aliens appear to be a Melkot, a Cardassian, and …a Klingon little person?

To paraphrase Tripp: great parties at Cathy’s Daycare.
