Hmmm. No one ever seems to have gotten what the building is. So here goes:

The building is the “Glass Tower” from The Towering Inferno. (http://www.thetoweringinferno.info/tower.html)

The Trek II connection is that the skyline seen from Kirk’s apartment is the same cyclorama (scenic backdrop) used in The Towering Inferno. So, basically, that’s where Kirk lives.

I love the link to the music video. Been decades since I’ve given that song a thought.

Nice tight shot. I recognize B of A and Transamerica; POV seems to be somewhere out in the Bay, so that big yellow thing might be the Sun Tower going up on YB.

As a resident of SF, I can assure you that the angle is looking north from SoMa (South of Market) because the “shoulders” of the Transamerica Pyramid would not appear like that as seen from Treasure Island.

Okay, here’s a clue about the building. There’s a Star Trek II connection which is in of itself a reference to another movie. Basically, the building is standing somewhere around 655 Market Street or just south of there. 😉

The lieutenant, it would seem, is endeavoring to be the first female Doctor. Nice!

And that guy between Pizza Roll Guy and Mirai could be Carl Sagan…

You guys are now down to just two people and one inanimate object as far as references.

The “click the balloon to hear the music” idea is very clever. I’ve never seen that before. As for the pizza roll, it reminds me of how in Futurama, Nibbler returned to his native planet and offered “greetings from Earth, home planet of the pizza bagel.”

Apparently, this is our reputation in the galaxy–the planet that does inappropriate things with pizza.

That is clever! It makes me feel like I’m time traveling, myself, without the inconvenience of being stuck at a party where I don’t know anyone.
