I assume Jin’s point is different, that without preceding knowledge of the Scrump there would have been greater wonder at discovering its capabilities, especially in comparison to other retro systems. Basically a problem of heavy spoilers. She can never have the joy of discovering what her new console can do when first opening the box.

There is also the possibility of a larger point, that if the capabilities are known, and the engineering is there, a Scrump could have been made from scratch. Instead of the temporary high of gathering the perfect spring onion in the forest, or buying the perfect new shirt, she could have had the long term satisfaction of having created an object of quality and distinction.
