I’m calling this era FINO. Federation In Name Only. Everyone wearing the same clothes, with the same cybernetics, reacting to newcomers who were invited with contempt and prejudice. No longer forward-looking, incurious about science and exploration. FINO.
I wonder if it is a comment on the no-conflict policy of early TNG. Without differences of opinion little can change, in that way it was an attempt at a Utopia where nothing needed to change because it was perfect, thus all opinion is the same. Except such a state is inhuman in that it always has to either by forced by some mechanism, or have a built in method of escape. Systems and ideologies which either fear humanity, or purposefully strive for stagnation are usually where such high level conformity is present.
We can also see that despite having some sort of coerced mental uniformity, this polity uses the tried and true method of having a despised underclass to make everyone else feel better about themselves. I’m not sure what that means beyond a shaky economy, or perhaps some sort of growing internal dissent which the population needs to be distracted from.
Kirk would despise what we have seen of this Federation.
This is a straight question: Does it seem to other readers that many of the male mostly-humans and Ferengis in this “brave new world” of the 29th (or whatever) century have had breast augmentation? Is it a symptom of their decadence, like the junk food and servants?
That’s definitely a female Ferengi and an Andorian with pecks. I didn’t see anything off with the anatomy. Also interesting to notice that the Ferengi aren’t wearing their head dresses.

I thought I was the only one who noticed that… I suppose they could be “invited trans-gendered species.”
Or they could be well-muscled men with skin-tight pajamas… Looking back at TNG, you couldn’t hide a wart in some of those uniforms!
Pretty sure the one on the left is a female Ferengi. The ears are a lot smaller.
So; maybe it takes 700 years, but female Ferengi finally get to wear clothes?

And here’s where it starts getting ugly. How long before she’s branded as insurgent or insane?
