Hey all. Between comics I was inspired to create a chart showcasing the differences between each update of the Enterprise studio model used for filming The Original Series. The 11 foot beast of a model was originally meant to be hung by wires and had no internal lighting or electronics. Its modifications started as soon as it was received by the studio. For the second pilot, Where No Man Has Gone Before, lighting was added and a number of surface details were changed. When the series proper started it was heavily updated with a new paint job, several physical changes, and lit rotating domes on the engine caps.
This chart will hopefully document every little change made at those three points in the model’s four year filming history, from the 1964 delivery to it’s last shots taking during the second season in 1968. A lot this chart is based on the hard work of other researchers, like Gary Kerr. A lot of it is also my own observations. If you have a quible with something, let me know. I have the receipts and I love to share. If I’m missing something, also let me know. This is very easy to update.

Hi Mark. Have you done a comparison on the three-foot model, either against the 11 or even over its production use? Both would be interesting, especially now.
Love this graphic! Just saw the production model at the air and space Museum in Washington DC.

So danged good. 15-year-old me would’ve killed for something like this.
This is fantastic. Would love to see “the receipts!”
Let me know what you’re curious about and I’ll find a way to post it.
Awesome
