I rather doubt “Weapons Free Zones” will be obeyed any more than they are on earth. Unless her starship is willing to use force to enforce the Captain’s ruling.
“Weapons Free Zone”?
Those tend to stop armed people in their tracks…
More baffled, me. I cannot see where Delos Reyes is going with this.
She’s denied the Lexington’s divinity to Cao, demonstrated it to the Ongree-on-the-street, and will now leave the Ongree relying on the Lex (still “God” as far as most of them are concerned) for defense against Salas.
Welcome back to the era of bows and swords. Corinth was largely depopulated for a century without a single firearm or missile being involved. How far will the targeting go? Every large gathering (which also stops demonstrations or even urban living)? Every explosive (which also stops construction)? Every large hunk of metal (so no more plowing and the end of useful agriculture)?
its a lot harder to get soldiers to slaughter children by hand than it is to get them to press a button and launch an area weapon at a target beyond visual range. (not impossible, but a lot harder)
Yerg. Now I’m wondering if Delos Reyes is running an “Another Taste of Armageddon” game here.
This definitely feels like Kirk Era here, and will have to wonder what will happen if they don’t have the capacity to wage full war on each other, or if it will still come around to bite Star-fleet and the Federation later on?
